War of Independence

This hall is dedicated to the Independence War. Strategically placed during the war, being in the heart of the war preparations and next to warfare theatres, the cities of Craiova and the district of Dolj were the main area of organization and support in the conquest for freedom.

On the left side and on the entire southern wall, a true scale ensemble will be set up, representing the beginning of the independence war - April 26, 1877 - the Romanian artillery responded to the Ottoman attacks in Vidin. The reconstruction illustrates the moments from the fateful day of May 15, 1877, when the Turkish forces bombarded the Romanian towns down by the Danube, and as a response to that attack, the Romanian forces from Calafat bombarded Vidin, confirming the state of war between the two countries and, at the same time, the independency and freedom of our country.
